About the Hosts

Zoë loves snow and mountains, finding her happiest moments in wild, remote places. Originally from Tennessee, she grew up chasing her dad around the woods. Zoë moved to Montana in 2014 to chase a life of endless adventures and discover new passions. After a decade in outdoor education, Zoë shifted her focus to forestry, driven by a passion for sustainable forest management. Her two Australian Shepherds, Ripley and Lucy, are her constant companions. Backpacking, snowboarding, gravel biking and a good walk in the woods are among her favorite activities. Zoë started Backcountry Bizarre to share the wild experiences all outdoor enthusiasts inevitably have and celebrate the crazy things that happen off the beaten path. Her favorite color is orange and her favorite food is breakfast sausage.

Angie is a woman of the woods and mountains. Growing up in Detroit, Michigan, she never imagined how deeply she would fall in love with the outdoors until college took her to Michigan’s rugged Upper Peninsula. It was there, surrounded by seemingly endless forest, that she discovered her passion for wild places. Her love for the Rocky Mountains later blossomed while road tripping out west, and she eventually returned for good. Montana stole her heart, with its big sky, velvety foothills, and snow capped peaks. Now based in Missoula, Angie works to manage the land that she loves as a forester, and shares her life with her loyal sidekick, Scrappy – a small dog with a big personality. Whether mountain biking, backpacking, or rafting, Angie thrives on outdoor adventures, especially when the unexpected turns into unforgettable tales.
